To strengthen the anabolic properties of testosterone, more than 100 synthetic steroid derivatives have been described for human purposes. The anabolic effect promotes protein synthesis, muscle growth and erythropoiesis. In clinical practice, substances with anabolic effect are needed to overcome various catabolic states. However, none of these compounds are devoid of androgenicity. Androgenic and anabolic properties of anabolic steroids cannot be totally separated. Therefore, it is more appropriate to use the term anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS).
Due to its chemical structure nandrolone is weakly exposed to aromatase (only 20% of the aromatizing activity of testosterone). However, not estrogenic effects are its main concern: nandrolone has a potent progestogenic activity (20% of progesterone). While binding to progestogenic pituitary receptors nandrolone causes increased production of prolactin, which in effect is very similar to estrogen: its effect presents in reducing testosterone production, increasing fat mass and in gynecomastia. To prevent these side effects prolactin inhibitors (cabergoline) shall always be at hand when on nandrolones cycle.
Oxymetholone is as mentioned very hepatic and liver enzymes will necessarily increase dramatically with its use. For this reason most Oxymetholone use will generally need to be kept at 6 weeks max with many never needing to go beyond 4 weeks of total use. While this is a very short lived duration its important to note, Oxymetholone appears to be one of the few steroids that really diminishes after use is extended; meaning, even if you went past the 6 week mark you probably wouldnt get much out of it other than damaging your liver. It is comforting to note, while it is toxic to the liver, when used responsibly any toxic effect will be of little concern as the liver will quickly return to normal once use is discontinued. It is important to note, as this steroid is hepatic it does not carry near the level of hepatotoxicity as many over the counter medications and regular alcohol consumption.
